How to play
Every day there are ten words on one theme, with their letters mixed up. Put the letters back in order to find each word.
Unscrambling a word
- Tap the letters in the order of the word. Each one goes into the next empty box.
- Tapped the wrong one? Tap it in its box to send it back. “Clear” sends all of them back.
- With a keyboard, just type the word. The Backspace key takes back the last letter.
- When every box is full, the game checks your word by itself. If it isn't right, you hear a quiet tone and the letters go back a second later. To change just one letter instead, tap it in its box or press Backspace right away.
Sometimes the letters spell another real word too, like STEAL and SLATE. Any real word counts, and the game tells you which word it was looking for.
If you're stuck
- “Shuffle” mixes the letters again. A new order often helps.
- “Hint” places the next letter of the word for you. You can ask more than once.
- “Skip for now” sends the word to the end. It comes back after the others.
- “Read the letters” reads the mixed-up letters aloud.
The theme at the top of the page is your best clue: all ten words are about it.
The “Text size” button at the top makes the text bigger. You can also choose other colours in Settings.
Through the week
- Monday and Tuesday: easier words, of 4 and 5 letters.
- Wednesday to Friday: regular words, of 4 to 6 letters.
- Saturday and Sunday: harder words, of 5 and 6 letters.
Ten new words every day
New words appear every night at midnight, Eastern time. The English and French words are different. When you finish, you can play yesterday's words and the days before.
Your time
There is no time limit and no clock on the screen. Your time is only shown at the end, with the time for each word.
Your progress
Your words, times and settings are saved on this device. If you clear your browser's data or play on another device, they start over.
